What we believe...
The Human race has a Sin Problem...
As humans (without Christ) we have a Sin problem. Sin is both doing what God said not to do and NOT doing what God asks you to do. According to this understanding of Sin, every human being is guilty of sin and our relationship with God is broken.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God”
Jesus is the Answer...
The Good News is that even though sin carries the penalty, God has done the work and paid the price through Jesus to restore our relationship with him.
Romans 3:24 “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God has already done His part to restore our relationship to Him. He took the initiative. Now He waits for each of us to individually accept what He has done for us.
Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven...
There is only one God. He exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, lived on earth, died on a cross, and rose from the dead. Jesus is the only hope for reconciliation between God and man. (John 3:16, John 14:6, Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-10)
We are SAVED and SECURED by GRACE through FAITH alone
Eph 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
The Holy Spirit is our Ultimate Guide
We believe that once you make the decision to follow Jesus, you are not alone. In fact, when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior God fills you with His presence and you become a Temple of God’s Holy Spirit.
1 Cor 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
The image here is that the Holy Spirit literally resides in you like the presence of God did in the temple of Jerusalem. From the moment you receive Christ, you become a new creation and the presence of the Holy Spirit is at work in your life. The Holy Spirit is a new presence that changes you, shapes you, challenges you, and EMPOWERS you. The Holy Spirit creates in you the desire and the ability to pursue God in your personal spiritual development.
The Work of the Holy Spirit
1. He Convicts the world of the Sin of not knowing Jesus
John 16:8 And when he comes, He will convict the world of its sins, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
2. He Convinces us of our New Identity as the Righteousness of God.
John 16:8 And when he comes, He will convict the world of its sins, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
2 Cor 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
3. He Becomes our Counselor
John 14:16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
4. He Leads us into Truth
John 14:17a “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth “
5. He Empowers us to be a Witness
Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
6. He gives us Spiritual Gifts to help and encourage others and build up the body of Christ
1 Cor 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
Why is Baptism important?
Baptism is a public profession of Faith in Christ. It is spiritually symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We believe that Scripture teaches that all who repent and believe in Jesus Christ should be baptized.
We are Baptized through emersion, as an act of obedience as we follow the example of Christ.
Mark 1:9-11 9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Baptism declares outwardly what has already happened inwardly!
